Kristóf Altusz studied international relations at Corvinus University of Budapest along with English and German language and literature at Péter Pázmány Catholic University, he holds an M.A in all three disciplines. He is married, and has two children.

He began his carrier at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2002. A year later he was employed by the Office of the Hungarian National Assembly, as foreign policy advisor. From 2006 he worked for the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Hungarian Parliament. In 2010 he was transferred back to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was posted to Berlin, as counsellor in charge of the political section. Returning from Germany in 2014 he took on the position of Director General for European Bilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. 

Later that year he was appointed as Deputy State Secretary for European and American Affairs at the same Ministry.In April 2017 he was appointed as Special Envoy of the Prime Minister for International Negotiations, which he carried out until the end of term of that time incumbent government.

Kristóf Altusz carried out his mandate as Deputy State Secretary until late July 2018 and from 1. August became Hungary’s Ambassador to Denmark, serving in Copenhagen until 2021. He continued his carrier as Chief Foreign Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister and was nominated in summer 2022 to the post of the Diplomatic Advisor to the President of Hungary.

From 4th September 2025 he acts as Hungary’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway.

He speaks fluent English and German.
