Today, 21 May 2021 marks the beginning of the Hungarian Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. Hungary joined the organization on 6 November 1990 and is assuming the presidency for a second time during the 30 years of its membership until 17 November 2021.
The priorities of the six-month Hungarian presidency are to effeciently protect ethnic minorities, to facilitate a dialogue between future generations, religions, to support the cause of environmental protection and to prepare for future challenges.
The Hungarian National Bank (Magyar Nemzeti Bank) will issue a non-ferrous metal collector coin to honour the Hungarian presidency in the Council of Europe.
